Elaboration of the topic "Sales contracts via the internet".
Abstract
This article is an introduction to the topic “Contract conclusion via the internet”.
We first answer general questions like “What is a contract?” and “How is a contract concluded?”
and explain terms like “declaration of intent” and “certificate”. Based on these terms and definitions
we examine the surrounding legal aspects and characteristics of this topic.
Based on this knowledge we then consider relevant security aspects concerning the topic “Contract conclusion via the internet”.
In particular we introduce a method which assures integrity and authenticity of digital messages like eMail – called “digital signature”.
We then examine the practical usage of digital signatures and focus the problems of this method. Keywords: Contract conclusion, declaration of intent, certificate, security aspects, digital signature
