Study at IG

This document briefly lays out the most relevant general informations for students that wish to study at IG.

Profile and Objectives

We set ourselves high standards in research as well as in teaching. The academic group Informatik und Gesellschaft aims to be one of the world's leading research instituts in the fields of mobile IT security, open source, and intellectual property.

Equally, we aim to deliver a high standard of teaching to our students. In fact, we consider students our chief assets in maintaining the standard of research and teaching that sets us apart from other academic groups in Germany. Students at IG develop interdisciplinary skills that will stand them good stead in their future careers. During their studies with us they learn to work at an academic level hardly found elsewhere in computer science courses.

We work very closely with partners in business and national administration to offer real life projects to our students as part of our courses. This gives students the chance to gather first hand experience in teams dedicated to solving real problems for real companies or administration offices.

Courses

Currently we offer four courses at IG:

  • Information Rules 1
  • Information Rules 2
  • Europäische Union 1
  • and Europäische Union 2.

Generally speaking, the latter as well as the former two build on each other, respectively. We do, however, consider equal qualifications on an individual basis.
